Do you know how to relax?

Most of the women I see in practice live full lives. They’re at the height of their career, children still at home and facing the challenge of ageing parents. It’s a delicate dance to balance all the conflicting demands. Anxiety, stress and overwhelm are regular companions.

This post comes off the back of a wonderful week away with my little family in France. We didn’t do a lot but one thing we did do a lot of was RELAX.

It made me think about my clients. Most of the women I see in in practice live full lives. They’re at the height of their career, children still at home and facing the challenge of ageing parents. It’s a delicate dance to balance all the conflicting demands. Anxiety, stress and overwhelm are regular companions.

Maybe you know how this feels too?

One thing that often falls off to the bottom of their ‘to do’ list is time to relax.

True, deep, restorative relaxation.

Most of the time they’ve forgotten what this feels like. So I’m here to remind you of what true relaxation feels like.

3 things that need to happen for true relaxation

For relaxation to be meaningful and restorative you want to have 3 things occur.

🌻 Your heart rate slow down

🌻 Release of physical tension in the body

🌻 Mental stillness

This is the magic trifecta!

Sleep (naps are totally underrated), meditation, mindfulness and breathing exercises are all great examples where you can allow yourself to truly relax.
So here’s your permission to take time to truly relax today and to prioritise it this week. Let me know in the comments below what you’re going to do to really relax this week, I’d love to know!

It’s my mission to help Perimenopausal women get clear, calm and confident and help them shed the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that hold them back (inluding learning how to really relax). If you want to know more about how I can help check out my 1:1 coaching or book a free 30 minute call to chat through your needs.
